Optores GmbH is a privately held company that develops, produces and markets solutions for ultrafast optical coherence tomography (OCT). The company is a spin-off from Lehrstuhl für BioMolekulare Optik at Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich, Germany. Together with Prof. Robert Huber, directors and employees of Optores coined the term “MHz-OCT”, indicating an orders of magnitude higher speed than previous (kHz-) OCT solutions. Optores' mission is to bring MHz speed to a wider audience, enabling new OCT applications.
Optores is proudly funded by EXIST Forschungstransfer (transfer of research), an excellence-oriented measure for high-tech start-ups. EXIST is part of the German government’s “Hightech Strategy for Germany” and is co-financed by funding of the European Social Fund (ESF).
